Mobile Network Hardening Program – Round 2
In the MNHP Round 2, CiFi was awarded a funding contribution from the Australian Government to continue to strengthening our network resilience in the most remote parts of Australia in which we operate our networks. Upgrades completed under Round 2 will introduce enhanced resiliency and measures at 6 mobile base station sites on both our Christmas Island & Norfolk Island networks, including:
- Uplift of backup battery power to increase site battery standby time for the current 4 hour, to 12+ hours
- Addition of solar panel arrays at all mobile tower sites allowing power generation to increase mobile tower site runtimes while grid power is unavailable
- Redundant backhaul connections from the mobile tower sites to our network core via LEO satellite technologies
- 2 x portable trailer mounted generators which can be rapidly deployed to any of our mobile tower sites
